Moorland Primary School, in Beanhill, sent out a letter to parents saying the infected person tested positive on Friday (October 2).

The letter, signed by head teacher Angela Garner, went on to say the confirmed case had not been in school since Monday, September 28, and is not 'class-based', therefore they did not come into close contact with any children.

A 'few' other members of staff did come into close contact with the person, according to the school, and are all now self-isolating for 14 days.

The letter reads: "I can reassure you that no children have been in close contact with the individual and the few members of staff who have been in contact are now self-isolating.

"We know you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England."

The school has said it remains open and children, if in good health, should return as normal.
