No more new Covid-19 cases confirmed in Milton Keynes today

After yesterday's surge of 12 fresh cases, there have been no new positive tests in MK over the past 24 hours, according to government data.

The city's total remains today at 911 cases since the start of the pandemic.

And, despite a change in the way in which the government records coronavirus deaths, MK's death toll remains unchanged at 104.

Nationally, the death toll dropped by more than 5,000 yesterday following a "recalculation" by officials.

The new count is based on a new definition of who has died from Covid-19. Previously, people in England who died at any stage following a positive test, regardless of the cause of their death, were counted in the figures.

However, no there will now be a cut off point of 28 days, and this should provide a more accurate picture of the epidemic.

Today the UK death toll was 18, bringing the new total to 41,347. However the infection rate is still high, with 1,009 new cases confirmed.
