One new coronavirus case in Milton Keynes today

There has been one new case of Covid-19 confirmed in MK today.

But happily there have been no deaths at MK hospital, where the last Covid-linked fatality took place 20 days ago, on July 4.

The city's total now stands at 867 cases since the start of the pandemic. This includes Pillar 2 tests in the community as well as Pillar 1 tests through the hospital.

Milton Keynes is in the bottom third of a list of 315 local authorities which reported their total number of cases per 100,000 population during the seven day period up until July 19.

Nationally the death toll over the past 24 hours rose from 53 yesterday to 123 today. The number of new cases confirmed during the same period rose by one to from 769 to 770.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in the UK now stands at 297,914 and the total death toll is 45,677.
