Rudra Nakade, who is 15, came up with a clever design for a full face visor during a Sunday evening in lockdown.

He has given his creations to grateful NHS staff for free - and they work so well that the doctors and nurses have requested dozens more.

Following an appeal on social media, two donors have supplied two extra 3D printers so production can be upped to meet the demand.

Now Rudra, whose mum is Manisha Nakade, has launched a fundraising page to buy the materials, sanitiser and packaging he needs.

He said: "Without these donations we will not be able to keep up with demand when the NHS staff really need it. We urge you to help NHS staff who are working tirelessly and risking their lives to save the nation from COVID-19. Any donations will be put to good use to support a great cause."

Meanwhile another MK computer expert Michael Bird is also producing face shields from his 3D printers, and he has fine-tuned production so he can make one mask per hour.

He started 10 days ago and, with eight printers running constantly, has already made and distributed 400 shields for staff on the frontline locally.
