Long Meadow School, in Shenley Brook End, sent out the letter to parents on Wednesday (September 23) to remind them that if their child is supposed to be self-isolating then they should stay at home until their return to school date.

The letter, signed by deputy headteacher Emma Kidd, reads: "May I remind you that if you have a child at home who is isolating this means they have to stay at home until their return to school date.

"As detailed in the bubble closure letters I sent out last week, this is to reduce the further spread of Covid-19 to others in the community. We have been made aware that some children who should be isolating have been seen out and about around Milton Keynes.

"National guidelines state that, 'from September 28, you could be fined if the guidance around staying at home and self-isolate is not followed'."

The letter explained what parents should do if their child displays symptoms of Covid-19 and also defined what Public Health England's definition of 'close contact' means, which is 'being within two metres for fifteen minutes or more or within one metre for one minute or more of an infected person'.

The school has recently had to close three whole year bubbles - with four in total closed - and has had a total of 14 people test positive for the virus so far.
