Milton Keynes Council (MKC) confirmed today (Tuesday, October 27) that twenty one people, including five members of staff and 16 students, have tested positive for the virus at Ousedale School's Newport Campus.

This has led to 300 people being forced to self-isolate as a precaution.

The council did not specify when the period of self-isolation started and when it will end for the students, who are all currently off anyway due to it being half-term.

An MKC spokesperson said: "We can confirm that currently five members of staff and 16 pupils have tested positive for Covid-19 at Ousedale School. More than 300 pupils have been asked to isolate as a precaution alongside wider testing of some contacts.

"The school is following all government guidance and is working closely with MKC and Public Health England to safeguard the school community. Parents and carers are receiving regular updates and many pupils will be able to return safely next week.”

The school also had an outbreak last week, which saw a 'number of students and two members of staff' at the school test positive for the virus, according to MKC.

Last month, hundreds of students at the school were forced to self-isolate after attending a 'party in the woods' where one person in attendance later tested positive for the virus, with the head teacher, Sue Carbert, saying she was 'disappointed' in her pupils.
