Two new coronavirus cases confirmed in Milton Keynes

There have been two new Covid-19 cases reported in MK over the past 24 hours as released by the government at 4pm on Thursday July 23.

The city's total now stands at 866 cases since the start of the pandemic. This includes Pillar 2 tests in the community as well as Pillar 1 tests through the hospital.

There has been no new deaths at MK Hospital, with the last Covid-linked fatality taking place 19 days ago, on July 4.

Milton Keynes is in the bottom third of a list of 315 local authorities which reported their total number of cases per 100,000 population during the seven day period up until July 19.

Nationally the death toll over the past 24 hours was down from 79 yesterday to 53 today. However, the number of new cases confirmed during the same period rose significantly from 560 to 769.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in the UK now stands at 297,146 and the total death toll is 45,554.
