Two new coronavirus cases in Milton Keynes in last 24 hours

There have been two new positive coronavirus tests in Milton Keynes in the latest figures released by the government this afternoon (Wednesday).

According to the official government statistics released at 4pm on Wednesday August 19th 2020 there have now been 929 Covid-19 cases in MK since the start of pandemic, up two on figures released yesterday evening.

There were 11 new cases confirmed in Milton Keynes between Friday and Sunday, making it one of the worst weekends the city had seen since the height of the pandemic in terms of positive tests.

The number of untested cases in the community is likely to be higher than the government figures according to MK Council leader Pete Marland.

He has warned that local restrictions will be imposed if the city's infection rate continues to rise.

Nationally the number of new positive cases rose to a total of 321,098, up 812. That is down by nearly 200 on the 7-day rolling average.

There were 16 new deaths recorded taking the total revised number of deaths nationally to 41,397.
