Like any other seven-year-old, Alessandro Baldocci, of Loughton, is struggling to make sense of the fact he can't play with his friends or go out during the coronavirus lockdown.

But - he's turned his despair into a heartwarming YouTube video, with the help of his dad, Italian-born concert pianist Gabriele Baldocci.

Gabriele said: "Like with all children, he didn't understand what was happening and he was asking all the normal questions. And then my grandmother in Italy tested positive, with no-one able to visit her. It's then that he understood.

"He asked if he could have a YouTube channel to entertain himself during the quarantine."

It was after the news of Gabriele's grandmother failing health that young Alessandro approached his dad about writing a song.

"He asked 'can you write a song for me?' He wanted to give a message from a child to other children and adults. I sat down and listened carefully to what he had to say.

"To see the wisdom of my son - I was really touched."

Gabriele added: "I was very moved by him. I decided to write the lyrics based on his thoughts and I produced a song, which he sang, using the limited resources I have at home."

The family are also raising money for Age UK and are appealing to readers to do the same.

"I've included a link for Age UK to donate. But please dolnate to any preferred charityn that looks after the most vulnerable."

Gabriele added: "I think a child being so honest and being resilient - it's such a nice message."
