The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) has closed the zoos in Whipsnade and London

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is closed to visitors until further notice following the latest advice from the government.

The decision was made on Saturday, after the Zoo originally made the decision to stay open and convert the Zoo's infrastructure to an outdoor experience.

In a statement on ZSL Whipsnade website, it says: "Regretfully we have taken the decision to close ZSL Whipsnade Zoo to visitors with immediate effect, and until further notice, following the latest update from the UK Government.

"This is the right and responsible decision to protect our people and our community.

"Rest assured that our animals will remain well fed and cared for, and the top priority for our dedicated zookeepers and other essential zoo staff, and we are making sure these front line workers are able to get to and from work safely."
