Earlier today the MK Citizen broke the news that a patient suffering with the highly infectious coronavirus had died at the hospital - Read full story here.It later emerged the man was on a public ward at Milton Keynes Hospital for six hours raising concerns over the spread of the disease.

He said: "Very sorry to hear the news of a second death here in the UK, of somebody with coronavirus. Again, it was somebody who was older and had underlying health conditions.

"My condolences go out to the family and his loved ones."

Mr Hancock went on to reassure the people of Milton Keynes and beyond his department is doing everything to fight the spread and protect the public.

"We are working around the clock to keep people safe and make sure we get the best possible response in this country to try and contain the virus, delay the impact and mitigate it.

"We are working night and day to respond."
