Officers are still following up the reports but have warned they will have to prioritise and cannot attend them all.

A spokesman from the MK North Neighbourhood Team said: "Thank you for all your online reports and calls regarding non-compliance of the COVID-19 regulations. In total we received almost 600 over the 4 day weekend.

"We want to assure you that we are reviewing each report but we do have to prioritise them and we will not be able to attend them all. We are visiting repeat locations identified through these reports and providing appropriate advice to anyone found gathering there."

Officers have thanked the tens of thousands of people who complied and stayed home over the Easter weekend.

"We know how hard it has been, especially with the beautiful weather we are having, but by doing so you are protecting the NHS and saving lives," said the spokesman.

He said police used the Engage, Explain, Encourage, Enforce method during lockdown but enforce is only brought in as a last resort.

"Almost everyone we speak to is polite and co-operates with us if they are asked to leave but where we do need to issue fines, we are doing so."
