WHEN the curtain fell on the super-successful Cinderella at MK Theatre last week, Louis Spence cast aside the sparkles, packed up and went home. Sniff.

His stay in the city was more illuminating than the annual firework spectacular in Campbell Park.

Spence played to an adoring fan base, but managed to turn the non-believers too, and his departure from the new city makes January even more dreary than usual…

But there is no point crying over the departed one. The time has come to move on, and the theatre is on the money this week, offering still more bang for our bucks, so to speak.

Paul Carrack arrives at the theatre tomorrow night, giving fans another chance to sit back and indulge in the music of one of the country’s best singer-songwriters.

We can’t tell you exactly how many strings he has to his bow – the thing snapped under so much pressure!

But we do know that the one-time front man with Ace, Squeeze and Mike & The Mechanics has one of the most original soulful voices out there, and that his delivery of tracks including How Long and the spine-tingling The Living Years will absorb you.

If you caught the recent BBC documentary on the Sheffield-born success, you’ll know plenty about the humble man behind the music.

Brothers Tinlin will support Paul at the show, something they’ve done quite a lot over the past couple of years. Mind you, there is a common thread here – Paul’s son Jack is their drummer.

An album – Shade of the Shadows is out now from the pop-folkers who also penned a track Make it Right, on Paul’s new album.

Ones to watch? Reckon so.

Show time is 7.30pm, and tickets are £28.50.

THERE is more music at the theatre from Wednesday, when the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons envelops the venue in harmonious, high-pitched tunes, and what a lot they’ve got: Sherry, Let’s Hang on, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like a Man, Rag Doll….

Jersey Nights will be at the venue through to Saturday, January 19th, and comes to the stage with four terrific singers, dancers and the all important live band.

It’s a seasonal success and yours from just £10.
