YOU might think Earl Carpenter would have enough on his plate, rehearsing for his starring role in The Phantom of the Opera next week, but not so.

The West End chap and a few pals (all of whom are familiar on West End stages) will be showing up and singing out at Woburn Abbey this Sunday evening.

A Touch of the West End is a delicious blend of sounds from many of the shows they have appeared in.

We’re talking huge slices of West End fare here: From Les Mis and Phantom to Wonderful Town (actress Annette Yeo will also star at Woburn, and worked opposite Connie Fisher for the musical here in MK earlier this year) and Miss Saigon, and loads more.

The intimate evening, limited to just 200, will begin at 7pm with a drinks and canapes reception in The Sculpture Gallery, before you feast on a tasty dinner with musical accompaniment.

“If you go to the West End, once the curtain has dropped that’s it, the end of your experience,” Earl says, “This takes things further.

“You have your fantastic performance but then you get the opportunity to sit, chat and befriend.

“People who love the musicals, love that interaction.”

Are you one of those people?

Tickets for the event are £85.

A Night at the Musicals is another opportunity to journey through some of those big stage tunes.

Organisers promise a great selection of show tunes – from Les Miserables to Little Shop of Horrors and Chicago to Sweet Charity.

And Company MK know how to do a more than decent star turn themselves – they’ve been putting on high-calibre shows for the past 20 years.

‘This is a chance to relive some previous productions and catch a glimpse at the future!’ organisers say.

Tickets are £12 for adults, falling to £8 for those lucky enough to be 15 years and under.

The Chrysalis Theatre at Camphill is the hosting venue, and performances are nightly from Wednesday through to Saturday, October 26.
