This international award-winning musical was written by a junior reporter in 1924 when Chicago was run by gangsters - and the city thrived on bootlegging, gambling and gun crime.

With Cook County jail holding more than a dozen women on murderous row, the story welcomes chorus girl Roxie Hart who has bumped off the lover she’s been cheating on her husband with.

Coronation Street’s Hayley Tamaddon oozes talent as she transforms her character from a “dumb mechanic’s wife” into a fame-hungry killer.

Her electric performance is fun and flirty - putting her own impressive stamp on a character that has been played by hundreds of actresses over the years.

Her co-star Sophie Carmen-Jones, known for her role in Wicked, plays double-murderess Velma Kelly who is serving time for killing her husband and sister after finding them in a compromising position.

She enlists the help of prison matron Mama Morton (X Factor’s Sam Bailey) and slickster lawyer Billy Flynn (EastEnders’ John Partridge) who turn Velma’s incarceration into a murder-of-the-week media frenzy.
