Concert offers a Guilding light

A CONCERT of Light Choral Music will deliver a wealth of well-known songs, including pieces from The Sound of Music and Oliver! this Saturday evening.

Olney venue The Carlton House Club is the hosting venue, and all proceeds from the show will benefit the Olney-based charity, Advantage Africa.

Tickets are £6 (and £5 for concessions) and the concert will begin at 7.30pm.

> ON Sunday, the Cock Hotel in Stony Stratford will host a concert of its own, in support of the South African based Clouds of Hope Orphanage.

Nearly all the music has been written by Mavis Ellen Jackson, a retired hospital sister, who was touched by the orphanage when she visited in 2010.

A slew of local talents will sound her music loud at the three hour show, which begins at 7.30pm.

Banjos, fiddles, dulcimers and geetars will be the sounds of choice at the bash, which is being held at York House Centre.

Entry is only £3 and music will come from The Old Grey Dogs, The Reverse Cowgirls,

The Band of Brothers and The Blisworth Tunnel Rats.

‘Uncle Eck’ Daniels will host, and the bar will bring forth the wet stuff.
