The claws will be out as the felines step before the judges and hope to prove why they really are the cat’s whiskers.

Not every puddy-tat can win, of course, and there is no shortage of entrants at this prestigious event – which caters for both pedigree and household pets.

A wide range of breeds are showing out – from the majestic Maine Coons and Bengals and the British Shorthairs and Persians, all the way through to the less familiar types, the curly Selkirk Rexes and GO!’s favourite, the hairless Sphynx cats.

Those passing judgement know their stuff too: adjudicators are flying in from America, France and Sweden to make their assessments at Stantonbury Campus.

In-between being dazzled by the beauty of the felines on show, you can do a spot of shopping for your own moggie too, with lots of cat-related items on sale, and some that you just won’t see in the shops.

Craft stalls will be vying for your attentions and if you are splashing a few pennies at the show, please try and remember to stop off at the Milton Keynes & District branch of Cats Protection which will have a stall there.

For every cat featured at the event, CoonTICA will donate one pound to the charity, and it really is worth remembering that while the cats you’ll see this weekend are pampered and preened to perfection, some less fortunate animals are abused or left to fend for themselves in truly disgusting situations.

If you print out and take this article to the show, organisers will donate £1 of your entry fee to the charity as well; Helping to make a difference couldn’t be easier.

Doors will be open to the public this Saturday and Sunday, 9.30am to 4pm.

Admission is £3, adults, £2, seniors and £1 for children – or buy a family ticket for £6.
