Festive Road are tanked up

Tomorrow night, a screening and street performance under the Great War MK banner is being played out at MK Gallery and in the surrounding Margaret Powell Square.

The event complements the Frontline Exhibition (as mentioned above) and sees Independent Cinema MK deliver a WWI style film screening.

That will be followed by an airing of Festive Road’s new production, The Best Company , ‘a physical theatre show with an amusing take on a very real struggle as four friends get a WWI tank into battle.’

The Best Company are heading to the Western Front but the conflict ahead isn’t the only thing on the minds of the company inside – life in the Mark 1 tank is noisy, busy and smelly.

Tensions escalate and a bizarre internal conflict occurs...will they even make it to the frontline?

The tank itself is a another Festive Road feat of the decidedly fabulous, with one complete side and another open side to reveal the workings and people inside.

It’s a moveable, rotating piece of cool too.

There are two performances in the great outdoors – at 6.30pm and 9.30pm, and the work clocks in at 40 minutes long.

Both are free to attend and suitable for families and all ages.

Festive Road are a great collective, but the one thing they can’t do is guarantee fine weather – if you are going, dress for rain or shine.
