The Old Beams on Paxton Cres in Shenley Lodge, had 85 guests not turn up for their bookings on Saturday (April 17).

Saturday marked the first weekend that friends could meet up for a pint and a catch up following a third national lockdown. Currently, pubs and restaurants can open in an outdoor only capacity, with pubs scheduled to fully open without restrictions, next month on May 17.

Whilst many undoubtedly took advantage of a sunny afternoon to chew fat over a pint or two, many chose not to honour their bookings at this pub.

A spokesperson released the following notice in a post that also showed an empty pub garden, saying: "85 - that's the number of guests we have had not show up for bookings so far today.

"Sadly we have turned many guests away this weekend as we were 'fully booked'

"Please can we ask in future that if you no longer wish to join us, and we fully understand that plans can change, please cancel your booking - you can do this by giving us a call on 01908 201054 or by following the link on your booking confirmation email.

"Thank you, and have a great weekend. Team Beams."
