Help Lucas reach his goal

WHEN Lucas Pritchard felt sick during an under six football training session in Newport Pagnell, no-one could have predicted the battle that lay ahead, writes Sammy Jones.

In September the brave lad was diagnosed with ‘high risk’ leukaemia, and the dedicated Chelsea fan has had to swap his beloved football games and school lessons for trips to both John Radcliffe and Milton Keynes hospitals.

To raise awareness of the illness, Lucas’ parents set themselves a challenge to raise £10,000 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Things have gone well too, and they are already on their way to reaching seven thousand pounds.

Now Rob is hoping to swell the coffers significantly, with his ‘Dad’s 10 Mile Dribble.’

Rob plans to dribble a football for 10 miles around Milton Keynes, which is enough to make even the most dedicated of sporting fitness folks feel a tad tired!

But then most of them don’t have the motivation of Rob.

“It’s a cause close to our hearts,” Rob said. “We would like to raise the money so we can help to try and stop others from suffering like Lucas is now.”

Energie Fit4less have backed Rob’s bid by giving him free use of their city centre based club.

They have also come to the rescue with a dedicated fitness program to help him reach his goal.

And Rob’s fitness is on the up and up as a result – in the first month of training he shed a stone in weight!

“We wish Rob the best of luck with his challenge,” said club manager Tom Burke.

“He has put in a huge amount of effort and we are confident ‘Dad’s 10 Mile Dribble’ will be a huge success.”

The challenge is a few weeks away and the ball will start rolling, so to speak, on September 3.

It is worth remembering that annually, 28.500 are diagnosed with blood cancer.

Your donation could make a real difference to those people, not to mention a Lucas who will be cheering his dad on, on his big day.
