Allotment-owners at Woughton on the Green have adopte da novel solution to setting up a shop on their patch - with two freight containers for their on-site shop and storage.
The crates were bought by Old Woughton Parish Council, and were guided into place on October 2.
Les Burgess, chairman of the Patch Allotment Association, said: “Thanks to the council for investing in the future success of our allotments. The first container will vastly improve the capacity and layout of our shop, and the second will do the same for our collection of special maintenance equipment while, taken together, we’ll get the bonus of dramatically enhanced on-site security.
“We are delighted to be part of this imaginative joint venture that helps put The Patch Allotments onto a stable and sustainable footing as a valued community resource.”
