Milton Keynes Easter round-up

On Saturday, Cowper and Newton Museum invites you to hop along to its Easter Trail.

Hares have been hidden around the house and garden and if you find them all, you win a prize.

The hare-raising fun (sorry)doesn’t start and stop there, mind: The museum is also hosting craft activites and Easter refreshments to keep you entertained, and the hunger-pangs at bay.

Pop along between 10.30am and 4pm.

> Woburn Abbey is bringing back three famous characters from its colourful past this Easter weekend – Lord George William Russell, Duchess Anna Maria and Mary, widely known as ‘The Flying Duchess. Will you ‘crack’ the all-traditional egg hunt?You’ll have your work cut out, with 28 acress of land to trawl!

Will the eggs be lost in the maze, or camouflaged by spring flowers?

Once you’ve paid your normal entry fee, there is no extra change to hunt the ggs, but donations for Willen Hospice will be gratefully received.

> The old Wolverton to Newport Pagnell railway line will be welcoming passengers between midday and 4pm.

It’ll be smaller than the famous Newport Nobby that used to ferry locals around, but a land train will chuff its way between the Great Linford and New Bradwell railway platforms.

The Conservation Volunteers have spent the past three years carrying out works along the 5km stretch, and have made a marvellous difference.

Stalls and activities will run at both stations, admission is free

> Also on Saturday, Havoc MCC pull on the leathers and rev up their engines before heading out on their annual Easter Egg Run

They will meet at the old Little Chef car park (off the A5, Bletchley) at 10am and run to Newport Pagnell Football Club.

Codebreaking centre Bletchley Park is opening its doors on Monday, with little chicks invited to partake in the Hunt the Chick Trail over in the toy museum.

Chicks will be nestling among a huge range of 1940s and 1950s toys and household items – fun for the kids and a trip down memory lane for those old enough to remember some of the original items from the first time around!

Over in the Mansion, a hands-on workshop will engage, with a lesson in making a special Easter-themed moving toy.

Model boats will set sail on the lake, and if you want to hear what it was like to be a refugee, Joan Draper’s first hand account will engage you.

The play area will be open for fun and there will be kiddies films shown at the Enigma Cinema throughout the course of the day.
