Milton Keynes City Orchestra might like to break into a musical chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’ on Tuesday evening, as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.
The fact that the orchestra continues to dodge adversity and thrive is the sum total of many people’s work, but that the orchestra exists at all is thanks to the passion and foresight of its founder conductor Hilary Davan Wetton, who will be in attendance for the show.
Milton Keynes Theatre is hosting the milestone event, and the musical programme will include Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2.
Orchestra MD Damian Iorio will conduct, and the soloist will be world class pianist Stanislav Khristenko.
Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.4 will also air, and Borodin’s Overture to Prince Igor will figure – beginning the event when the MK Music Centre Youth Orchestra perform side-by side with professional MKCO musicans.
Stanislav was recommended for this m0st special of occasions by Damian – having studied together in Russia, their classical relationship was cemented many years ago, and will make for an inspired release.
Tickets start at £10 and rise to £34, with under 18’s admitted at just £5.
