RSPCA hosts speed dating sessions with a difference

Valentine’s is upon us once again, cupid’s arrow is sharpened and the stores are full of cuddly toys and trinkets (you know, the stuff that at any other time of the year you’d think of as tat, but feel compelled to purchase in February).

Maybe you are already loved up and would like to extend your family, or just maybe you are fed up to the back teeth of the girls (or guys) and want a loyal companion who won’t cheat on you, fleece you or chew your ear off constantly.

Step forward the RSPCA with the answer!

The North Bucks group will spend this weekend hosting its seventh annual feline speed dating bash, to help you find your perfect pet partner.

Volunteers will host the ‘speed dates’ with the centre’s cats, and romantic music and subdued lighting will help the mood along.

In reality it is a fun spin on a very serious business – of finding abandoned, unwanted and mistreated puddy-tats their forever homes.

“We all know that pets can provide truly special relationships – so what better event than Valentine’s for some of our loving, beautiful but homeless cats to find their perfect owners?” asked RSPCA Cattery co-ordinator Vivienne Dalton.

“We work hard all year round to care for and re-home animals in the local area and we hope that this novel approach will result in many of our cats going to warm, loving homes.”

Those who ‘fall in love’ will be asked to make a minimum donation of £55 per cat, to help with costs, and be prepared for a standard home visit.

We should point out all adults cats are neutered, micro-chipped and treated for fleas and worms, and will have had their first vaccinations. To book your session, call the Milton Keynes & North Bucks RSPCA on MK 611179.

> We should also mention that the branch has a number of feral cats looking for safe homes.

These moggies are perfect for farms, small holdings or anywhere there is an outdoor space.
