THE Watershed presents the gloom-pop solo project by the multi-instrumentalist, visual artist and digital polymath She Makes War this Saturday.
She has supported everyone from Midge Ure to Chris T-T and last year toured South America as bassist for trip-hop fella Tricky.
Her Pledge Music campaign was a total winner too – fans raised enough money for her to record the current album Little Battles, which she pieced together in Hackney, only a stones throw away from where everone else was throwing stones – in last year’s riots.
Nonetheless, according to the press bumf ‘If love is a battlefield, this album is a peaceful protest, honest and vulnerable yet steely and sure of itself, all melancholy romance and wide-eyed hope for the future.’
The album isn’t short on guests either: those complementing Laura’s talent include the aforementioned (and equally talented) Chris T-T and Tasmin Archer.
Doors open at 7pm and entry at the Newport Pagnell venue is a fiver.
> This Friday evening, the venue hosts the ‘Re-bound Chilli Cook Off’.
If we boil that down for you, it’s actually house breaks and techno from Paul Neeves, ready to take you back to an era when ‘free parties were truly free’.
Oh, and there’s a raw chilli eating contest too.
Doors at 6pm, admission is free before 9pm, £3 after.
