‘Stony Stratford under Snow’ won’t be alone though, and will hang alongside another of his works, ‘Fish Factory - Douarnenez’.

The show at London’s Mall Galleries continues to March 23.

Derek’s talent has also been recognised by the exclusive Wapping Group of Artists (so called because the formed in the Prospect of Whitby pub in Wapping) who have been recording the Thames and its changing environs since 1946.

Many of the country’s leading painters occupy spots in the group, whose members are restricted to just 25 - so Derek fits in nicely!

The man with the brilliant brush strokes also has his work ‘Impressions of Venice’ on display at Mine Galleries in Carshalton until the end of March.
