Fifth decade of doors

Custom Glaze, in Bletchley, is a family-run firm in its fifth decade of trading under the same name. Their bespoke manufacturing of composite front doors means they can spray paint a composite door in any colour you choose.

That’s 47 years of helping people in and around Milton Keynes find their ideal doors, windows and glazing and finding their perfect colour match! And they offer 10-year guarantees on all front doors and will measure up at your home and fit them too.

We asked sales and marketing manager Jonathan Strefford to tell us what the most popular colours were for front doors in 2023.

“Dark blue and black were really popular last year,” he said. “But also lots of different shades of grey and Chartwell Green – a sage green – was hugely popular too.”

As well as a wide range of standard colours they can mix any shade – all you need is the paint colour number and they can do the rest. In the showroom you’ll find around 20 different door styles to look at, feel and try, as well as over 40 different types of double and triple glazing finishes.

Having glass in your door adds light to your hallway without compromising safety or insulation – they can even do coloured glass creating designs – such as Art Deco panels for 1930s homes.

Improve security and energy efficiency

There are lots of advantages to having a replacement composite door fitted to your home, Jonathan explains, as well as the aesthetics and adding value to your property.

All their doors meet police security testing, making them the securest on the market, they are weatherproof meaning they won’t warp or fade with the effects of strong sunlight or lashing rain.

They’re low-maintenance – no more sanding and repainting. And with a huge range of door fittings – from sleek, minimal and modern to ornate designs like bee-shaped door knockers – in a wide choice of finishes, you can add that personal touch to the design.

There to help

Visiting the showroom at 8, Denbigh Hall Industrial Estate, Denbigh Hall Drive, Bletchley, Milton Keynes, MK3 7QT, is the best place to start, Jonathan says. With free parking, it’s easy to access and here you can not only look, but touch and try different doors, glazing and fittings.

If you know what you want and just want to bring in measurements and choose your style and colour that’s fine; Custom Glaze are happy to make what you want and you can take the door away once it’s ready to have it fitted yourself.

But they offer a full service from design to fitting. There are experts on hand to advise and guide you with your choice and, once you’ve decided, they will arrange for a surveyor to visit your home and measure up. Then the door will be custom made just for you and fitted by the team.
