Zoe Hutchins, who has owned Devon Lodge for over 20 years, is so proud of her home that she even offers day visits for new residents who would like to come and try it before deciding whether to extend their stay.

She says: “We are very much a home from home. We offer an intimate, personal and holistic service in pretty surroundings, with a lovely garden.”

Zoe adds: “We usually offer respite care for week-long stays but can also offer full-day care at this special time of year, when loved ones need extra support.”

Devon Lodge has been given a ‘good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which described their ‘vibrant and welcoming atmosphere’ where ‘staff provided care and support in a very caring and meaningful way’.

The family-run home provides the highest standards of care with security and companionship, set in peaceful gardens for its 26 residents.

In the modern, spacious accommodation, the team provides care for day visits, short breaks and convalescence, as well as longer term stays for people of retirement age and over.

Carefully made personal care plans are tailored to the individual needs of residents, fully supported by ongoing assessments to promote high standards of independence. Managed by Stacey Pym, who has more than a decade of care experience, Devon Lodge offers the continuous commitment of training for all grades of staff who provide empathetic care.

Zoe explains: “We offer a long and happy retirement to all who stay with us. The home is just that, a home to feel both comfortable, safe and well cared for whilst retaining your independence and right to choose.”

Activity staff encourage residents to maintain links with the local community and keep their minds and bodies active, with a broad range of pastimes and visiting entertainment. There is also in-house pampering, hair styling and chiropody.
