Hazel Fawdry was beaming on Friday as she turned 100 and received a telegram from Her Majesty The Queen.
She celebrated with a party thrown by around 20 friends and family at The Willows Nursing Home in Great Linford.
Mrs Fawdry, who was in her own home until last year, has lived in around 60 countries, including Cyprus, Morocco and Bahrain.
She is mother to four children – twins Tim and Sue, Rupert and Felicity – and grandmother to 13 and great-grandmother to 22.
Tim said: “She is still on the ball and still remembers seeing a Zeppelin shot down over London in 1916.”
