A WHEELCHAIR bound pensioner who does all her own cooking, cleaning and shopping is taking time off from housework tomorrow – to celebrate her 101st birthday.
Remarkable Floss Kimpton will celebrate with fellow residents, many of them 30 years her junior, at her Great Linford sheltered housing scheme.
Here she lives in her own flat and looks after herself with no care whatsoever.
“She’s amazing,” said friend Peter Gilbert.
“She’s quite house-proud and even though she’s been in a wheelchair for 20 years, she does her own cleaning.
“It’s quite incredible to see her sweeping up with a dustpan and brush from her wheelchair!”
Floss is a regular at the Fulwell Court bingo sessions, where her eagle eyes will pick up any mistakes made by the caller. She also keeps other residents on their toes – literally – during their regular shopping trips to Sainsbury’s/
““Floss has a power wheelchair and she is so nippy, whizzing up and down the aisles, that we all have to watch our for our toes,” said Peter.
A former Sainsbury’s worker, Floss does all her own cooking from the store’s ingredients. She is such a loyal shopper she appeared in the Sainsbury’s magazine when she celebrated her 100th birthday last year.
“Floss also regales other residents with tales of her life during the wars.
Said Peter:“She lived in London and her house was bombed during the Blitz. Bricks were literally falling on top of her but somehow she survived.
“She truly is an exceptional l01-year-old.”
