For 30 days in a row starting on Friday the founder of city charity Climb Your Mountain will complete a marathon (26.2 miles) every day.
He will be attempting the challenge to help raise funds for the charity. This means that throughout June, Charlie Wardle, will cover 786 miles on a course in Milton Keynes and will burn off an additional 90,000 calories more than normal!
Charlie is encouraging other people to run, jog or walk with him to help raise the £30,000 target and motivate people to join in to improve their health, fitness and wellbeing. People can join in with this challenge on any day of June.
Charlie said: “The more people who join in with me the better. Hopefully they will help keep me going and more money will be raised and if you’ve never completed a marathon before this is a great opportunity in a non-competitive environment.”
The 30 marathons in 30 days challenge is being sponsored by Fossil, the fashion company which is based in Milton Keynes and is also a Sunday Times Top 100 Employer and many of the Fossil staff will be taking part on different days during the month.
They said “This is an unbelievable challenge, totally unique and based in Milton Keynes. We loved the concept and are delighted to be involved”.
The former World Champion and Olympic Silver medallist, Gail Emms is also involved in the challenge and recently went with Charlie to the Fossil head office based in the Wolverton Mill area to meet and chat to staff. Gail herself is running with Charlie on Saturday, June 9.
Money raised from this challenge will all go to the Climb Your Mountain charity to help provide more services, educational courses and physical activities to help people overcome stress, depression and challenges they face by improving their mental and physical health.
