£700 stolen in market robbery

A MAN had £700 stolen from him in a robbery at the city open market on Saturday.

Thames Valley Police is now appealing for witnesses to the incident which saw a 32-year-old man robbed in Market Square at about 2.45pm.

The victim was at his stall, which sells and repairs computer equipment, when he was approached from behind. A piece of material was placed over his head and he was pulled to the ground.

The offenders then stole £700 cash from the victim’s pocket and ran off.

Although he suffered a sore back and thumb as a result of the attack, the victim did not need hospital treatment.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Jo Pape, based at Milton Keynes CID, is appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault, or saw people acting suspiciously in the market area before or after the assault, to come forward.
