The new Wilko store in the Kingston Centre got off to a neighbourly start by donating £500 to Willen Hospice, which is just four miles away.

Manager Sid Raghavan invited hospice representatives Diane Finlayson and Jane Bliss to visit the recently opened outlet to receive the cheque.

He said: “Knowing the dedication and care Willen Hospice gives to the local community, we wanted to show our appreciation and support as a new retailer in the area.

“The team and I are excited to have started this friendship, which we’re sure will grow in the future.”

Willen Hospice provides specialist palliative care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families, in and around Milton Keynes.

The value home and garden retailer was opened last month by MK mayor Cllr Keith McLean with MK Dons player Dean Bowditch and Sid Raghavan.

The store will be supporting Cancer Research UK, as its regional charity of the year, throughout 2015.
