'A dog shouldn't sleep out in this weather, so why should a human in Milton Keynes?'

A reader captured this poignant picture of a homeless man sleeping at the city centre during this week's freezing weather - days after the city's winter night Shelter closed for the rest of the year.

The reader told the Citizen: "I took this and just wanted to share it." he added:

"The man hadn't slept all night because of the cold and he said there was nowhere open for him to go.

"His hands were like ice. If there was somewhere open I would have brought him a hot drink but it was 7am.

"He was so pleased that I just took five minutes to chat with him. I asked him if I could take his photo as I would try putting it on the internet and maybe it would open people's eyes.

" A dog does not deserve to sleep out in weather like this so why should a human?"
