Abbey Hill Golf Centre has handed over the keys to a brand new car after thousands of golfers from across the Milton Keynes area entered ‘Hole-in-One’ challenge on its Pirate Island Adventure Golf Course.

Visitors to Abbey Hill, which is part of BGL Golf, the UK’s leading course owner and operator, were invited to enter the competition when playing the 18-hole Pirate Island putting layout laden with themed obstacles including lakes, waterfalls, rafts, cannons and even a giant shipwreck.

Lucky winner Katie Purchase, from London, was visiting the public pay-and-play centre with her brother and sister-in-law from Woburn, when the trio entered the competition to win a new Kia Picanto worth nearly £8,000, supplied by Milton Keynes Kia.

Katie said: “When I got the call, it felt like I’d won the lottery – especially as I recently sold my car.

“My sister-in-law was about eight months pregnant when we visited and we were hoping to help get the baby moving. I called my brother as soon as I found out about the car and the news must have induced labour, because my new nephew, Rafferty, was born shortly afterwards.”

Andrew Scholey, Abbey Hill Golf Centre Manager, said: “We enjoyed welcoming new and returning guests to come and try their luck and win the car and hope to run a similar competition again soon.

“On behalf on everyone at Abbey Hill, I’d like to congratulate Katie on her win and her family on the new arrival.”

Alex White, Milton Keynes Kia Sales Manager, said: “We are very happy to be involved with Abbey Hill Golf Centre for this event and would like to congratulate Katie on winning a brand new Kia Picanto.”
