Amazon begin recruitment for 2,500 Christmas jobs in Milton Keynes

Pay rates for seasonal staff start at £8.00 an hour at the MK branch.

For permanent employees, the pay rate increases over their first two years of employment when all employees earn £9.15 an hour and above and all permanent staff are given stock grants, which over the last five years were on average equal to £1,000 or more per year per person.

Fulfilment centre employees also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including private medical insurance, a company pension plan, life assurance, income protection, subsidised meals and an employee discount.

Recruitment for seasonal roles is now underway through local recruitment agencies.

Amazon is anticipating its biggest Christmas period ever, including Black Friday.

On Black Friday last year, Amazon sold more than 7.4 million items, at a rate of around 86 items per second.
