Zoe Loker, 38, underestimated the speed at which her baby daughter would arrive.

Even after calling 999, she couldn’t make it out to the ambulance - and ended up pushing little Roschelle out on the floor of her hallway, just a couple of feet away from the open front door.

“I was surrounded my paramedics, giving birth in my hall, with everything on display for the whole world to see.” said the mum of five who lives on Walton.

“It was all really dramatic, but even I saw the humour of it when a delivery driver calmly walked up the door and asked my partner to sign for a package.

“I think he got a bit of a shock, but by that time I was past caring who saw. It brought a whole new meaning to the term delivery man though!”

Rochelle, whose other children are aged 14, 11, five and one, has thanked the paramedics for their help.

“They were amazing. They even got the floor clothes out and cleared the hallway afterwards until it was spotless.“

Roschelle arrived three weeks early, weighing a healthy 61b 1oz. Experienced mum Zoe thought she was having night-time Braxton Hicks contractions - and didn’t even bother waking partner Kevin Millington until the last minute.

She had started having “little twinges” in the middle of the night and decided to sit quietly downstairs.“I didn’t think it was worth waking Kevin and the children. But suddenly things started hotting up and I yelled for Kevin to call an ambulance.

“When the paramedics arrived and got me up from the sofa, the baby started coming. We only made it as far as the hallway!”

Kevin said: “ I was still half asleep when suddenly it was all going on in the hallway and the baby was coming.

“The front door was wide open and I remember a delivery man arriving in the middle of everything. I think he was from Amazon and he wanted me to sign a parcel for a neighbour.

“It’s all a bit of a blur, but I think I just signed automatically. I dread to think what the man saw!”
