Hundreds of workers at the city’s Amazon distribution centre celebrated the famous Prime Day in style last week by twinning it with their company’s 20th birthday celebration.
The team at the Marston Gate site got into the party spirit with fancy dress, raffles and a DJ playing requests.
The centre is responsible for dispatching orders to Amazon customers from all over the world.
On Prime day, which started at midnight on Wednesday last week, Amazon set its global sales record by selling 34.4 million items. This beat even the biggest Black Friday event in history.
The centre’s general manager, Ashley Cowen, said: “Prime Day in Milton Keynes was a fantastic success and myself and the team here are delighted to have played a part in helping break a global sales record.
“With the event coinciding with Amazon’s 20th birthday, we decided to have a party for all associates on Prime Day. A DJ playing requests and a raffle to win a Kindle were some of the activities that we got involved in during the day and it was great to see everyone in Milton Keynes have a great time on such a momentous day for Amazon.”
