Anglers weigh in for charities at fishing match

A fly fishing match organised by housing developer Lovell and supported by Anglian Water raised more than £22,500 for five charities.

The event was masterminded by Lovell’s London regional director, Michael O’Farrell, and the team at the Foresters Arms in New Bradwell, Milton Keynes, where the post-event prizegiving celebration and barbecue took place.

Held at Grafham Water in Cambridgeshire, the boat pairs match saw 80 anglers from all over the UK taking to the water, including members of the England international team and also the Netherlands professional fly fishing team.

The match and auction raised £22,554 for Save the Children, Willen Hospice, Milton Keynes Hospital’s Little Lives Appeal, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Cancer Research UK.

Michael O’Farrell said: “Everyone had a fantastic day’s fishing followed by a great evening at the Foresters Arms, so to have raised such an incredible amount for our nominated charities into the bargain is brilliant.”
