Students in Milton Keynes are being invited to apply for a scholarship to Buckingham University.

The new £2,500 Four Counties Scholarship is open to anyone qualifying for one of the University’s two-year degrees. Students should also meet the conditions of their offer and make a firm acceptance of a direct offer of a place.

Pro vice-chancellor, Julian Lovelock, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone who wants to do a degree but who needs help with the fees. Living locally and doing a degree at Buckingham saves you more than £20,000 – it is cheaper than taking a traditional three year course a long way from home.

“We are the UK’s top University for graduate prospects, according to the National Student Survey. Doing a degree at Buckingham leads to a job. It is also a very satisfying experience – we are top for student satisfaction, NSS figures show.”

The University of Buckingham has four schools – Law, Business, Science – applied Computing and Psychology and Humanities – including Economics, Politics, History, Modern Foreign Languages, Art History, English Language and Literature, Journalism and Education.

Ex BA (Hons) English Literature with Journalism student Livia Douse said: “We have an ever-increasing number of students who, like me, love the fact that they can still see their family and friends while getting a degree and enjoying all the fun of university life.

“What’s great about Buckingham in particular is that even though you’re still living at home, you will meet people from all corners of the world and learn a lot about other cultures, as Buckingham truly does have an international population.”
