Apprentice greenkeeper at Abbey Hill Golf Centre is nominated for national award

Ross Butler, a qualified apprentice greenkeeper at Abbey Hill Golf Centre in Two Mile Ash, has been nominated as a regional finalist for the industry renowned Toro Young Student Greenkeeper of the Year Award.

The young greenkeeper will be representing Hertfordshire based Oaklands College where he is currently undertaking his greenkeeping qualifications.

“It’s an honour to have been nominated for such a prestigious award,” said Ross, “The opportunity to visit the BTME and further my greenkeeping skills amongst the best in the industry is incredibly exciting.”

The successful candidate will receive a five night trip to the BIGGA Turf Management Exhibition in Harrogate next January, which will include four days of educational workshops and seminars, plus a Toro training voucher for a course of their choice.

“We are always striving for the best possible playing conditions at our course, and Ross’ nomination is a testament to his hard work and dedication to his studies,” said Andrew Scholey, General Manager at Abbey Hill Golf Centre.

“We will support Ross throughout his bid for the title of Toro Student Greenkeeper of the Year, and wish him the best of luck in the next stage of the award.”
