Archaeology day was huge success at MK library

Central Milton Keynes library was packed with people who wanted to learn about local archaeology on Saturday.

The special Archaeology Day included a session of the history of Wolverton cemetery, which dates back to Anglo-Saxon times.

There was an exhibition on Medieval Milton Keynes and also displays of recent work by the CLASP Community Landscape and Archaeology Survey Project, Wing Heritage Project and the Upper Nene Archaeological Society.

People could take along artefacts to be identified by Ros Tyrrell of the Portable Antiquities Scheme, while archeology workshops offered a range of activities for children.

Councillor Vanessa McPake presented a gift to MK Council’s archaeology officer Nick Crank to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Archaeology Day.
