A “disturbing” number of car fires over the past ten days have sparked fears that an after dark arsonist is targeting the city.

Eight cars have been deliberately set alight on three different estates.

All the attacks happened at the same time of night - between 1am and 2am.

Police are now investigating to see if the same method was used to start each fire.

Three of the arsons took place on Eaglestone, three in Horners Croft, Wolverton and two in Fletchers Mews, Neath Hill.

A fire spokesman advised people to park in well-lit areas. He said; “We are certainly concerned at this high number of arson attacks on cars.”
