THE work of 12 pensioners is set to really make its mark at an art exhibition later this month.
The Make Your Mark event, due to take place at Netherfield Meeting Place on Wednesday, January 26, will showcase the work of members of Milton Keynes Retired and Senior Voluntary Programme.
Last year, with the help of Milton Keynes Community Foundation, the group decided to run a course offering art lessons to senior citizens.
The 12 participants took part in a one year course, meeting once a month at Netherfield Meeting Place for two hour sessions.
The work that they – and their art teachers – have produced will be displayed at the public exhibition.
Co-ordinator Nima Pujara said: “Last year with the support of the community foundation we came up with a plan of giving art lessons to senior citizens.
“They have produced some fantastic work. For some of them it was kind of refinding their artistic talents, for others it was therapeutic.
“It has helped these 12 people a lot.”
The Make Your Mark exhibition will take place between 11am and 6pm, with Milton Keynes’ Mayor Councillor Debbie Brock attending the event at 11am.
People are encouraged to go along and view the art.
