Artists called to help city project

A youth project in Coffee Hall is calling on all budding young artists to lend their talents.

From May 3 to 5, a local urban artist along with some young volunteers will be giving the Jonathans Youth project building in Coffee Hall a makeover.

The group will design images based around the theme of the Queen’s Jubilee and work to develop a brightly coloured mural on the outside walls of the building.

Youth worker Clare Slattery said: “The project will freshen up the outside of the building, giving it a new lease of life and making it a colourful and inviting place.

“The project will also give the young people involved a chance to improve their art skills with instruction from an accomplished artist.”

This will be the first phase of a two part project to refurbish the outside of the centre.

Phase two will be carried out in the summer holidays and will involve a complete overhaul of the shutters at the back of the building.

The young people involved will again come up with designs to be painted onto the shutters, but this time the theme will be the Olympics.

Together with the artist, the group will also be creating some new art work for the inside of the building.

If you are aged 13-19 and living on Coffee Hall or the surrounding area you can get involved with the Jonathans Youth project by contacting Clare Slattery on 01908 253611 or e-mailing
