The dad-of-three and senior leader at Shenley Christian Fellowship was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

He had emergency surgery, but despite top quality skill and care by the medical team they were unable to save his lower right leg, said a church spokesman.

He said the church was “deeply shocked” about the accident, which happened on Friday at Fullers Slade.

Congregations all over the area are this week praying for Ross and his family.

“Ross is now recovering after the surgery but faces a long road of rehabilitation in the coming months. We will do all we can to help him on his way to recovery.“
