The partnership will see Adoptionplus, the pioneering adoption agency that provides specialist placements and therapeutic support for the most vulnerable children and young people, merge into Barnardo’s, the UK’s leading national children’s charity.

This will enable Adoptionplus to expand its reach across England, while helping Barnardo’s family placement teams to develop even greater expertise in their field.

To mark the occasion Barnardo’s chief executive, Javed Khan, visited the head office of Adoptionplus in Milton Keynes earlier this month, where he met staff and adoptive parents, heard presentations on the work of the service and had a tour of their offices.

Javed said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Adoptionplus. It was a pleasure to visit the service and welcome brilliant new colleagues into our Barnardo’s family.

“We are very excited about the future and to be working with a team who share our core values. This collaboration is a perfect fit and a natural step forward for Barnardo’s as the UK’s largest independent adoption agency.

“For many decades we have focused on finding loving, secure families for the most vulnerable children. By combining Barnardo’s breadth of expertise and national reach, with the innovation and specialist knowledge developed by Adoptionplus, we will achieve better outcomes and positive futures for even more young people in the care system.”

Joanne Alper, director of services at Adoptionplus, said: “We feel incredibly positive about this exciting new partnership with Barnardo’s, based on our shared ambition to improve the lives of children and young people. By working together we believe we can offer children and families so much more.

"Children deserve the chance of a hopeful future and we have confidence that this partnership will provide this for more children, both in Milton Keynes and around the UK.”
