The challenge will take place inside the intu Milton Keynes shopping centre next Friday, March 16. Andy will be attempting to pedal from 7am to 7pm, if he needs to take a break from pedalling he’ll need to encourage members of the public to help him out and get on the bike.

He hopes his challenge will encourage people to get involved in this year’s Sport Relief challenge and download the Sport Relief app to become a part of the nation’s billion step challenge.

Laura Moss, station editor, comments, “We will be measuring and converting the energy Andy generates through pedalling to see if he could power the station to keep it on air, and there will be a totalizer at the event so that shoppers can see how he’s getting on.

“Since the start of 2018, Andy has taken his weekday breakfast programme to different sports and leisure centres all over the three counties. He’s had a go at pickle ball, roller derby, belly dancing, indoor skydiving, tai chi and many other activities in the search of something that will help him to live a healthier lifestyle and lose weight.”

Andy comments, “I hate spin classes, so this pedal power challenge is going to be considerably hard, physically and mentally, thanks to all of my colleagues at Three Counties for suggesting I take part in this task!

“I decided that 2018 was going to be a year of change, I’ve been working hard to become healthier and lose some weight and since January I’ve presented my Friday breakfast programme from a different town or village taking on a new challenge. If I can do this, anyone can!”
