Volunteers living in Beanhill raised a whopping £812 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The community events group, consisting of June and Mick Harrison, Liz Payne and their team of committed volunteers, hosted two occasions to raise money for Macmillan at the Moorlands Centre, Dodkin, Beanhill.

The first event was a health themed family disco which saw people come out in fancy dress as doctors and patients to raise money.

Moorlands Centre manager Angus Forsythe said of the event: “It was lovely to see so many local families come out in support of such a worthy cause.”

The second event was a Macmillan Coffee Morning complete with raffle, tombola, guess the weight of the cake and a best of British bake off.

Many local businesses donated prizes for the event and the community group would like to thank the MK Dons, Costa Coffee, Red Bull, the Agora shops, SNO!zone and many others for their kind donations.

They would also like to thank those people who attended the events, the Moorlands Centre for providing the community hall for free and Community Action MK for providing guidance and support.

“It’s amazing how people with so little give so much,” said June.
