Birthday gift is just purr-fect

A caring 10-year-old girl has proved a purr-fect example to others by donating all her birthday presents to animal charities.

Acacia Netfcher asked her parents and relatives to give her money instead of presents on her big day.

And when mum Philippa threw her a birthday party, Acacia asked all her friends to bring presents suitable for CATS instead of children.

As a result the Fulbrook Middle School pupil amassed £150 in cash and a pile of cat food and cat toys.

This week she split the money and goodies between Milton Keynes Cats Protection branch and Northampton’s Redtile reptile rescue centre.

“I am so incredibly proud of her,” said Philippa, who lives in Bletchley.

Cats Protection spokesman Aimee Purnell said: “We are over the moon and very touched by Acacia’s generosity.

“Her donations will make a huge difference to us and mean we can help many more cats and kittens.”

The charity, which is full to bursting with needy cats, has appealed for more volunteers, fosterers and helpers. They can be contacted on
